What a difference 2 days makes...

"It never snows in South Devon", the saying goes. "The sea air is too salty for snow" The locals will tell you.Nonsense, it seems! We had the most extreme weather in 40 years this last week with several inches of snow bringing the world to a standstill. In Devon this really means "a bit slower than usual", but still our families staying with us were all snowed-in and some had to stay an extra night whilst us and our local farmers dug the drifts from the roads and back to civilisation. Then as soon as the snow stopped the sun came out and the world changed again. Here are a few photos from Flear over 2 days showing the incredible difference a couple of days make!Although wonderful to see the landscape so beautifully different, it was also a good test for us here. We have invested a lot of money in our infrastructure here over the last few years and that really paid off under these conditions. No loss of power, plenty of heating and hot water, even the hot tub maintained 37 degrees in temperatures of minus 5 and below. And we cleared the roads in a day or two with the help of our neighbours' diggers and tractors, and led our guests out by convey to the main road. So all-in-all we weathered the most extreme conditions in a generation and still gave our wonderful guests a great holiday (even if they were here a bit longer than intended!).
