Part 3 of our local beach tour looks at Thurlestone Sands.There are two main beaches at Thurlestone - the smaller is by the Golf club, whilst the larger a little further along the coast towards South Milton. Both have a fine, shingle sand and sheltered waters.The South Milton end has views out into the bay where the famous Thurlestone Rock stands majestically,Thurlestone Sands is unspoiled by lots of extra facilities, but South Milton does have the convenience of toilets, cafe/kiosk and watersports hire in season. Swimming is a delight on these beaches and there is a lifeguard in the summer season on South Milton Sands. Dogs are permitted on these beaches, and they are as lovely to visit to wander along as they are to set-up camp for a day of sunbathing and swimming.
