A glimpse at a few of our local beaches.
Our recent costal exploration took us from Flear Farm to Salcombe then on to North and South sands.Salcombe is situated at the start of the Kingsbridge estuary. The mouth of the estuary is wide, tree covered and beautiful with lots of beaches on both the East and West side.On a clear, bright and wonderfully sunny day the views over Salcombe to East Portlemouth and Mill Bay are incredible.
North sands, which is further South West than Salcombe and along a very winding road, is a lovely stop off for a bite of lunch at the quirky Winking Prawn (with in-house dressing up box) and a paddle in the clear, calm sea.South sands is another lovely beach with cafe and a ferry that can take you to Salcombe. A sea tractor operates to transfer passengers from the boat to the beach. These places are so reachable from Flear that you can easily beach hop sampling the delights and be back home in time for a cup of afternoon tea with no problem.
