About Flear

Flear Farm is family-owned and run by us, Camilla and Barney Fawcett, assisted by our boys Reuben, Percy and Eden. We live here on-site and take great pleasure in welcoming families for lovely relaxing holidays with us in our beautiful valley.

Flear Farm

The Flear estate is located amidst the rolling hills of the South Hams, in South Devon. It is made up of a nest of charming cottages and a principle house, embraced by 27 acres of beautiful sprawling countryside, including Flear Wood. The name ‘Flear’ is Saxon. In 1268, Baldwyn de la Flere was granted lands in this area, where farming goes back for more than 1000 years.

A historic stone bridge with multiple arches spans a calm river, with moss-covered foundations and charming houses nestled among lush greenery in the background.

The Local Area

Flear's small river flows towards the Kingsbridge estuary and the sea beyond. The nearby beautiful beaches and coastline almost surround us here, to the South, East and West. The South Hams connects to the rest of Devon via Dartmoor National Park to the North. The pretty town of Kingsbridge, with its cafés, restaurants and quirky shops is only a 10-minute drive, and the nearest village which is just up the hill in East Allington boasts an excellent country pub, The Fortescue Arms.

You, Our Guests

At Flear, we want guests to feel right at home. Here, children can run free, make friends, and create cherished memories. We're the perfect holiday location if you want to leave behind the strains of city living and relax in a peaceful rural setting. You can wander along pretty streams, explore our rambling woods and trek over undulating hills. In spring, a sea of bluebells carpets the woodland floor and buttercups fill our meadows, in summer a range of blooming flowers decorate the gardens of Flear, and in autumn the apple orchard is laden with fruit, while wild garlic and horse chestnuts, sloes and blackberries abound.

We look forward to welcoming you soon.

A group of two adults and three children walk along a grassy path beside a small stream, surrounded by lush greenery and a sloping, freshly cut field.

A small stack of logs rests among vibrant purple bluebells in a lush woodland clearing, with tree trunks and ferns in the background.

We all had a fab time

Dear Camilla and Barney,

Thank you for having us, we all had a fab time, especially my son who is now a trampoline addict.

It really was as wonderful as we remembered it and we look forward to coming back many times in the future and I’m sure our children will grow up to have magical memories of adventures at Flear Farm as we do.

Many thanks.

Thank you, we had a lovely time thank you and we were really impressed with your venue.  Noah loved the play barn and it was just a shame we couldn’t make more use of the pool with George having the temperature. We loved the place thank you and you and the team were very welcoming.

  Wonderful Stay

Hi all,

Thank you so much for a wonderful stay.

The cottage was impeccable, a perfect balance between a home and a holiday and the facilities on site were again at such a high standard for everyone to enjoy. It is clear how well thought out and cared for Flear Farm is and we all had a wonderful time and we’re not ready to leave.

We will hopefully be back and have already begun recommending to friends.

Thanks again.

David
  Wonderful

Dear Barney and Camilla,
Thank you so much for making our family Christmas weekend in Flear House so wonderful. The house is beautiful and with all the Christmas decorations and the stunning Christmas trees which you kindly provided, it was very special indeed. This was our second visit to Flear Farm and I'm sure it'll not be our last.
As always, the play barn, swimming pool, tennis courts, woodland walks etc were thoroughly enjoyed by all. Merry Christmas to you and the boys.

We all had the most wonderful week

We all had the most wonderful week, and for a three generation family that is certainly an achievement. I truly think you have thought of everything and we all really appreciated the high quality of everything in the house, from kitchen appliances to bathrooms and to beautiful beds and bedding. Everything in the house, combined with the fantastic facilities around the site, made for a truly wonderful and relaxing week. The grandchildren had a brilliant time with the play barn, the indoor pool and meeting the animals. The lovely weather was also a bonus and we were able to make full use of the pool and barbeque.

Thank you once again and I hope we will return in the future.

The Best We Have Stayed At

Dear All at Flear Farm

Many thanks. We had a great time. We have stopped as a family at a number of similar family holiday cottage complexes in Dorset and North and South Devon. Flear was voted by everyone as the best we have stayed at. Only problem we have is that our grandchildren loved Betty and their parents are under great pressure to have a cat!

  idyllic holiday venue

Hello Barney and Camilla

May I say what an idyllic holiday venue you have. It is ideal for the smaller children and all 4 of our grandchildren aged from 2 to 8 loved it especially the play barn. Flear House was perfect for us and really suited the family. The peace and quiet was lovely and very safe for all the children.

Thank you for everything.
